Ages 11 to 14. This month’s book is The Circuit, the graphic novel by Francisco Jiménez. Stay after the talk and draw your own. The library provides drawing and writing materials while they last. Registration is not required.

Evans Meadow Restoration

Evans Creek Preserve

A volunteer morning to prep a wild pollinator meadow, part of the Bee City work. The job is removing and covering reed canary grass so the next area can be planted. It is free. Signups are required because parking is limited. If you are not on the list, the page says you will not be permitted to volunteer.

A social hour with Lambert House volunteers for youth ages 11 to 22 who identify as LGBTQIA+, or who are questioning. Parent or guardian permission is required for ages 12 and younger. Email kcgroups@lamberthouse.org before you go. Friends of the Sammamish Library sponsor it.

Creative Connect: Sew a Pouch

Lodge at Beaver Lake Park

Sew a tiny pouch inspired by the Chinese hebao, with sewist Miki Hau and the Arts Commission. Adults and older kids can try simple hand sewing. Younger makers can make a no-sew version. No sewing experience needed. The workshop is free.

Free play from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., then instruction from chess coaches. All levels. Ages 11 and younger should come with an adult. Registration is not required. The club meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays. This date is the October second Tuesday. Snacks and instruction come from Friends of the Sammamish Library.

A haunted walk, a bounce house, and carnival games. The Y describes these branch festivals as free and open to the community, and it asks adults not to wear masks. Costumes should stay family-friendly.

A free city party. There is a scavenger hunt with a prize, an animal encounter, and trick-or-treat at city booths and trunks, with allergy-friendly candy at every other stop. The library hosts a craft inside. Food vendors include The Cheese Pit. Costumes are welcome.
