Rainy day activities for kids on the Eastside
Indoor places to take kids when the Eastside is wet, from museums and libraries to pools.
When the rain settles in, the useful indoor stops are the ones that do not need a sunny park. Start with a museum or a library, then a community center or a pool if the kids still have energy.
KidsQuest Children’s Museum sits at 1116 108th Ave NE in downtown Bellevue, next to Bellevue Library. It is built for younger kids. Check the museum site for hours and tickets before you go. Parking in the museum lot is paid.
King County Library System branches are the easiest rainy-day default. You can walk in, read, and catch a story time. This week’s story times and other programs are on the city pages, not on a separate library calendar here.
Bellevue Aquatic Center at 601 143rd Ave NE has two indoor pools and swim lessons. The city posts the hours and the session dates. Mary Wayte Pool is the indoor pool on Mercer Island.
Crossroads Community Center at 16000 NE 10th St has a games room. The city also lists drop-in youth hours, including a free makerspace. Confirm the day’s hours on the city page.
This week’s dated events, indoor and out, are on the city pages: Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Issaquah, Sammamish, and Bothell.
